Anniversary Weekend

So for our anniversary weekend we took the girls with us to explore a ghost town called Grafton. It is behind Rockville on the way to Zions National Park. Grafton was a settlement of LDS pioneers sent by President Young to grow cotton. The town grew in population to about 150 people. After incidents with Indians and flash floods the people in the town were forced to either leave or rebuild. In the 1930's the last of the people moved out based on the fact that the lack of government funds made it impossible for the the town to get running water and waste water services.

Visitors are able to see the church building/School house in this building they town also held Friday night dances that brought visitors up all the way from the Arizona strip. One can also visit the cemetery where there are still the original wooden head stones for those that lived in Grafton so long ago.

Below is the Grafton cemetery. The wooden fence that you see is in the middle of the cemetery and it is where the 4 that were killed by indians are buried.

Below.. these are some of the people who are buried in the cemetery, their age and cause of death.

Jon and the girls are inside one of the houses..the ceilings were so low.

Below- this is the schoolhouse/church/dance hall
they filmes some movies here too back in the day I just don't remember which ones though

SoCkS!!

Every now and again I find I do things that my mom does/did. it is crazy! well one thing I always remember was her socks. She would wear crew socks with tennis shoes around the house and they were always folded over. Sunday I put on jon's socks cuz my feet were cold and without even thinking I folded them down so they would stay on! I couldn't believe it!

I have a sock feddish. I love "collecting" socks from the different places I go. Every place I have been around the world I have bought a pair of socks:) any ways for Christmas I was in Kansas with Alison and her fam. Sweet Camilla got my a Christmas present! she gave me these cute socks:) I love them!! Thank you Camilla!

Trauma

so a few weeks ago Jon was at work, there were 8 guys moving a commercial oven (Jon included). The boss said "watch your fingers!" and at the same time without saying anything all the guys dropped the oven except for Jon. The freakin oven landed on his thumb. he pulled out his thumb and didn't even look. He knew it was bleeding so he went to the bathroom. He was rinsing it then looked down. His nail cracked and the from the base of the nail, it totally ripped out! like all the way! so nasty. So he went to the hospital to make sure it wasn't broken and to put the nail back in. The whole nail is dead but they are leaving it in there to protect his thumb until a new one grows in. Enjoy the nasty pics..lol
